Court Denies Measure H Supporters' Attempt to Strike Down Costa-Hawkins Preemption
The extremists behind Measure H were furious to lose their sidestep around Costa-Hawkins, which prevents cities from imposing rent control and other unreasonable requirements on single family homes and newer apartments. One member of the Rent Board claimed that the judges "didn't understand" the law, and so they demanded a re-hearing. This was refused, and state law continues to preempt extremist attacks on property rights. You can read Pasadena Now's article HERE .
